Well, we survived two plane rides today. Bracken did so well, thank goodness. We left super early, but he didn’t sleep a wink during the plane rides. We rode from Eugene to Denver, the two of us. Watching his face as he looked out the window of a plane for the first time was really fun. I brought crayons, a coloring book, modeling beeswax, books, and more. Of course snacks too. What I brought hardly entertained him at all. But what did entertain him was opening and closing the window shutter, turning on and off the lights overhead (along with the air), putting down the tray in front of our seat and putting it back up again….. (once we were allowed to take our seat belts off and move a bit that is.) He also liked peeking over his seat to smile at people behind us and then hide. A few times he said “all done”, telling mama that he was done with the plane ride. Then I would try to occupy him with something for a little longer.
And then we met my mom and grandma in Denver. As soon as we connected with them, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. Surely grandma could work her magic to keep Bracken happy on the next plane ride and it took a little load off me. The next ride was from Denver, Colorado to Riverton, Wyoming. That plane was the smallest I’d ever been on. We got to sit in the four seats that were together in the very back. By that time (in the picture above) Bracken was getting so tired his eyelids were droopy.
Bracken and GG (his great grandma.)
We got to the little airport of Riverton and I was so glad to be back on solid ground and so glad that we got through the flying alright.
Bracken had the attention of his mom, grandma, and great grandma. Lots of attention is the way he likes it.
His monkey suitcase from his grandma was a big hit and he proudly showed it to many people around the airport. Then we went to grab some lunch, we were all starving. Bracken finally fell asleep on our drive from Riverton to the small town my sister (and soon to be brother in law) live. It was a short nap, but I’m glad he rested a little. Plane ride…. check. Next adventures to come.
P.S. This is what greeted us in the Riverton airprort. There were giant mooseheads and other such things all over the place, including a huge dinosaur bone. My uncles would have loved it.
