Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…Getting grounded back in home after a day away.
.
…Going outside and laying on the earth for a few minutes in the warm sunshine.
.
…Jeff’s stories. Lately Bracken has been curling up in Jeff’s lap and Jeff has been making up all sorts of stories. It’s something special they’ve been doing together and I love seeing Bracken’s eyes wide in wonder as he listens so intently.
.
…The smell of fall in our home with a butternut squash and a pumpkin baking in the oven.
.
…Jeff and Bracken raking leaves in the front yard, while I watched them out the kitchen window, washed dishes in the sink, and chatted with family on the phone.
.
…Reading books in bed with Bracken one morning before we started our day.
.
…Grating fresh ginger root and making tea.
.
…Ending the day with a clean kitchen. That doesn’t always happen, so nice when it does.
.
…Watching Bracken’s friend pull him around the yard in his new wagon.
.
…Getting some overdue thank you’s written.
.
…Jeff taking a break in his work to play with Bracken. It made Bracken so happy and I believe it made Jeff even more productive when he got back to work.
.
…Still seeing hummingbirds around the garden.
.
…Opening the window and letting some fresh air into our bedroom on a warm day.
.
…Bracken’s big sleep shirt from Grandma. Seeing his little toddler self in a big shirt is so endearing.
.
…Seeing our garlic popping up in the garden.
.
…Making more of an effort to connect with people I care about on a regular basis. (Instead of assuming they know how much I care about them.)
.
…Discovering a few apples left on the tree out front when we had just run out of fresh fruit in the house.
.
…Bringing as much wool for us to wear as I did, at market yesterday. (Though we could have used a lot more, it was really cold out.)
