The other day Bracken and I went outside to do some chores and then wandered over to the apple tree out back for some “chicken time.” I squatted down to take some pictures, and then this happened….
Our chicken, Bear, flew up on my shoulder and hung out there for awhile. It was so sudden and unexpected and I just burst out laughing. I thought it was so hilarious. I happened to have my camera so I tried to get some pictures of it, but of course I wasn’t quite sure where to aim. I wasn’t sure whether I’d post these pictures or not- they turned out really goofy- but then I decided it was worth the slight embarrassment to myself if it could bring a laugh to you. So, I hope these crack you up and make you smile.
Nothing like a silly chicken to make you laugh!
I’ve been getting stuck in being too serious at times lately. Moments of being stuck in struggle and out of flow. (Silly chicken therapy works wonders to lighten you up!) The last two nights I’ve had inspiring dreams to help me get back into the flow of life. The first night I dreamt that there was a river. I was with Bracken and was holding him. I discovered that if I struggled, it was no fun at all. But if I relaxed and completely let go, we would float at the top of the water, easily flowing with the wild current and having a blast. I woke up thinking ‘go with the flow.’ Then last night I had a dream that I was in the middle of the ocean. I had been invited to a remote tropical spot to go on a fishing trip. We were in a very small fishing boat. Suddenly in the midst of a calm ocean, a giant wave came and tipped the boat over. The giant waves would keep coming periodically. At first I was fearful and annoyed. It was not enjoyable getting pulled so far under water by a giant wave and struggle to get back up and catch my breath. But then something inside of me shifted. I could subtly sense that another wave was coming. So I got out of the boat, relaxed in the water, and let the wave carry me. I was floating at the top, riding the wave, and it was exhilarating, enlivening, and just downright fun! So I’d go about my business, fish a little in the boat during the calm waters, and then follow my vibe and get back in the water to go for a ride each time a wave came. I woke up thinking: ‘ride the waves.’ Sometimes when you feel a bit stuck here and there in daily life, it feels good to make progress somewhere, even if it’s in your dreams. Doesn’t it? Each dream made me wake up feeling peaceful, like I was on the verge of a breakthrough, on my way to getting back on track and getting in sync with myself. Sometimes I want to control things. To feel I have some control over my life. But I can’t control the waves or the current, all I can do is learn to work with them. And it’s a lot more fun that way!
