We’re constantly making changes with our business. Tweaking things here and there, finding a better way to do things over time, always learning. After tying Jeff’s handmade buttons on a card, I would use a small, clear seal (like a see-through sticker) on the edge to connect the front and the back of the card. That way the ties were neatly tucked away inside the card and when you flipped the card over you’d see a little write-up about our buttons on the backside. The clear seals worked for awhile. Sometimes there would be a strange glare when I’d photograph them, but I worked with it. Sometimes, though, the clear seals would stop sticking. And then lint and every piece of fuzz would stick to them. Sometimes all the button cards I had so carefully prepared, would start sticking to one another at market, when the cards were right up next to each other. It was driving me crazy. No one wants a big jumbled mess when they are trying to flip through cards of buttons, now do they? Well, Jeff had an idea. Why not staple the cards? A staple, you say? Why -by George- what a great idea! So simple, really, and so needed. So I tried it out. I started stapling the button cards after I had tied on the buttons. At first they were crooked, but then I started getting the hang of it a bit more and got them more straight. I wondered how it would look in the pictures. And well, I’d say it looks fine. Now my button cards are not sticking together, they’re no longer driving me crazy (the new button cards, that is.) Amazing how a solution as simple as a staple can bring so much peace of mind.
