…Knitting…
I have very excited news in my knitting world….. I’m knitting my very first sweater!
It’s for Bracken and I’m calling it his ‘Yellow the Bracken’ Coat because ever since I started knitting it, that song runs through my head. Often I’m humming the song over and over while I’m knitting. It’s a catchy tune.
I’ve been bringing my knitting along with me wherever I go- you never know when you’ll get the opportunity. I brought it to a birthday party over the weekend and made quite a bit of progress. I was at an easy point in my knitting so I could chat with people and hardly look at what I was doing. Now I’m to a part in the pattern where I need to pay more attention. I keep thinking ‘I’m knitting a sweater.. I’m really doing it!’
The yarn is Imperial, from Oregon. I got the yarn on sale at my favorite yarn shop, Stash, during our last visit.
This feels like an autumn sweater, so I’d like to get it finished soon, but I have a lot of knitting to do for the holidays, so we’ll see.

…Reading…
I finished ‘The Creative Family’, and felt all filled up with creative ideas. Yesterday Bracken didn’t have a nap and ended up falling asleep for bed early. I felt like I was on vacation (you can tell I’m a mom.) I started a new book before bed called ‘Seven Times The Sun: Guiding Your Child Through the Rhythms of the Day.’ A sweet blog reader e-mailed me awhile back saying that she had a bunch of Waldorf books she was no longer reading and wanted to find a home for. As I’ve said before, I’m still very new to Waldorf philosophy and want to learn more. She came by our booth at the Saturday Market twice over the summer and delivered two big stacks of books for me. I was so grateful. Now they are on my bookshelf waiting for me to read, and this is the first one that called out to me.
