On Friday morning when Bracken woke up, he looked outside and was so excited to see snow! I loved watching his reaction, remembering how I felt about snow when I was a kid. Snow Angels! Snow Forts! Snowmen! Sledding! Many good memories playing in the snow and then warming up inside afterwards.
I needed to go outside to get firewood and take care of the chickens. Bracken told me that he wanted to go outside and eat some snow. That’s what he wanted to do last year when he went out in the snow. It made me laugh. We got all bundled up and then Bracken told me insistently that he needed a cardboard box. Okay then. He brought it outside and started collecting snow in it.
Bracken came upon his blue ladder all covered in snow.
The chickens stayed in the coop. Jeff even brought them water and put it inside the coop. Honey (above) poked her head out the little chicken door while we were there, but she didn’t venture far. I was surprised since when we had chickens before, they always went out in the snow. (The next few days after the snow stopped falling from the sky and the sun came out, they did go out in the snow more.)
I’ll be back to share about our weekend, but I wanted to share these first day of snow pictures in the meantime.
