Joining the YarnAlong a day late this week. Here are some peeks at my knitting. I found some knitting time in the car and in our market booth on Friday and Saturday and made quite a bit of progress. I cast on a cowl for one of the holiday gifts I’m making for my mom to give. It’s the first of three cowls I’ll be knitting for her. I finished knitting it (hooray for quick knitting projects) and will show you after I weave in the ends and add the buttons. The colorway is split pea and I really like it. And the Quince & Co. yarn? It was my first time knitting with it and I’m in love. The yarn is so soft and feels wonderful to knit with. I just cast on the second cowl in the bird’s egg colorway and hope to make some good progress on it over the market weekend.
…Reading…
When I went to the grocery store this week I walked past the magazine racks. We hardly ever buy magazines and I thought a magazine would be a nice surprise to bring home for Jeff. He was not enjoying his reading material very much and was getting bored of being cooped up in bed, so I thought some fun reading material would cheer him up when he wasn’t feeling well. I brought home a special issue by Mother Earth News, a guide to Self Sufficient Living, filled with beautiful pictures and inspiration. Bracken brought it to Jeff when we got home and it did make him happy. This morning I opened it up and started reading an article. Bracken came to sit next to me and just wanted to look at the pictures, so we did that together. It looks like a good one.

It’s so cold here today. Jeff poured some hot water to thaw out the chicken water. I’ve had the woodstove going “full-tilt-boogy” (as Jeff would say) all day, but it still hasn’t warmed the house up all the way. I felt a burst of energy in the beginning of the week, but then a tiredness has washed over me. I was ready for bed at seven last night, though I didn’t end up going to bed that early. A bit of knitting by the fire sounds really nice to me right now. A good refresher. I see that in my future after the day’s work is done. Cold weather really seems to inspire the knitting even more than usual.
How about you friends?
