Happy New Year Everyone!
I’m happy to welcome 2014. I always like a fresh start, a new year.
We’re in need of one over here. This week has been a really rough one for us. Jeff and Bracken got sick as well and we’ve all been so incredibly miserable. One night Bracken kept waking up all night long and we probably got only a few hours of sleep. The next day I couldn’t get him to take a nap, which meant I didn’t get to make up for any lost sleep the night before. Sleep deprivation mixed with being so miserably sick made us three very grumpy bears. The next night Bracken refused to drink any of the delicious tea Jeff made him, with healing herbs, or take anything that would help him to feel better. We felt frustrated and didn’t want another sleepless night. And then I felt guilty for feeling frustrated with a sick three year old. It’s just hard to take care of a little one when you are so sick yourself, isn’t it? It was so nice to have loved ones call and check on us and at the same time I hardly wanted to talk to anyone because everything that came out of my mouth was so negative and depressing. But, today is a new day! We got a little bit more sleep last night, Bracken took a nap today, and that has made for much brighter outlooks around here. Epsom salt baths and some tidying up helped things too. Today I finally feel there will be an end to this terrible flu. My body still hurts, but my mental outlook is much better which is what I needed more than anything.
Anyway, back to the YarnAlong. Short and sweet today.
…Knitting…
Slippers. Just finishing up the first one now.
…Reading…
Coconut Cures by Bruce Fife. I’ve been wanting to read about coconut oil and requested some books from the library. The first chapter in Coconut Cures was so enjoyable and I’m looking forward to reading more. I’m becoming a coconut oil fanatic. I had the book next to the bed and Bracken accidentally knocked my water over and it got the book all wet. Looks like I’ll probably be paying for it. Oh well, that happens sometimes. And it looks like it would be a good book to have anyway.
How about you?
Knitting? Reading?
