…Knitting…
My knitting time has still been devoted to the slippers, but on a few occasions this week I was in a situation where I had a knitting opportunity as long as it didn’t require following a pattern or my full concentration. So I picked up Bracken’s coat and made a tiny bit of progress on it. I hadn’t knitted on it in what felt like forever so it felt wonderful to pick it back up again. I had wanted to finish it in the fall, but it has it’s own timetable.
…Reading…
I finished Coconut Cures (skipping over a few parts so I could return it to the library.) While I didn’t agree with all of the author’s dietary opinions, I absolutely loved learning more about coconut oil.
Then I started reading Farm. Food. Life by Kimberly Sanders Peck. I was so excited when I got it in the mail and when I started reading it, I just devoured it. I’ve already finished reading it! The pictures are gorgeous, the farmers are inspiring, and the recipes are mouthwatering. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the author, Kim, through e-mail and she is really wonderful. When I first saw that she was raising funds on kickstarter to get her book published, I wanted to help contribute to her dream. We didn’t have much money to spare that month, but I wanted to help even if in a small way, so I donated $5 to the project. I figured every little bit adds up. She raised enough money to publish her book and guess what? She already sold out! I’m so happy for her. I’m waiting to hear about the next printing. Her book helps connect people to their food and gives us a peek at how much work farmer’s put into feeding us.
How about you?
