…Knitting…
I finished knitting the slippers! It felt really good to complete some things this week (a knitting project and a book.) This morning, I cast on my next project. In the fall, our friend Inge told me that she wrote a sock knitting pattern and asked me if I would be a test knitter for her new pattern. I said yes! However, I had quite a few other knitting projects to finish before I could get to the socks. She was so sweet and patient. Now I’m happy to say I’ve officially started. Before starting, I had to go to a knitting shop and buy the size 1 knitting needles that the pattern called for. I didn’t own any needles that small and I’ve never knit with needles so tiny before! I can tell that it will make for tightly woven, good quality socks. The yarn I’m using is from Inge’s farm: Timberwolf Farm. The blue was dyed with indigo and the grey is a blend of wool and alpaca. It’s always a pleasure to knit with their yarn. (Something so fun about their yarn is that on the label they always tell you the name of the sheep or alpaca that the fiber came from.)
…Reading…
I was still on a coconut oil kick and hadn’t had my fill of soaking up information about it yet, so I started reading Virgin Coconut Oil: How it has changed people’s lives, and how it can change yours! by Brian Marianita Shilhavy. It was a book that we got for free with our first order from Tropical Traditions. Jeff started reading it and then he lost the book. I was bummed because I really wanted to read it. We both searched for it quite a few times. Finally, after some cleaning, it showed up and I was happy. It’s filled with tons of testimonials of people’s healing experiences with coconut oil. It’s pretty amazing, really. I finished reading it already. And speaking of Tropical Traditions…
We’ve fallen in love with Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil (the highest quality coconut oil they offer) and awhile back I decided to become an affiliate with them because I love their product so much. Each time someone orders from Tropical Traditions for the first time, through my link, our family gets a $25 gift card to spend at Tropical Traditions! Two blog readers ordered through my affiliate link and we were able to buy coconut oil this month almost entirely paid for! (We bought a gallon, on sale.) The winter months are lean months for us, without our local market, and I can’t begin to say how much that meant to us! Thank you to those who ordered through the link. In addition to giving our family a gift certificate, a new customer who orders through my affiliate link also gets the free book that I wrote about above. (Yes, these coconut oil links in this post are affiliate links and I promote their coconut oil because our family personally uses it and it’s the highest quality coconut oil we’ve ever found.)
