…Knitting…
I had hoped to show you Bracken’s finished coat today, but alas- it is not finished yet. After finishing the collar, joining the edges and weaving in all the ends, it was time to make the button loops. This pattern requires a little bit of sewing for that part. We don’t have a working sewing machine right now, so I’ve been hand sewing, which I enjoy doing. I really wanted to get the coat finished however and wasn’t feeling very patient with sewing by hand or with learning something new for that matter. Anyway, the button loops are not looking how they are supposed to. They might need to be redone. We shall see. I loved the fabric I chose to make them in so much, but it didn’t show very much with just the button loops. Then I had an inspiration to make elbow patches in the matching fabric! I love elbow patches and would like to put them on everything. I think they’ll be a fun addition to this coat. I’m thinking of using buttons in black walnut wood.
…Reading…
I finally finished my book from last week and I started reading ‘Parsnips in the Snow: Talks with Midwestern Gardeners’ by Jane Anne Staw and Mary Swander. It’s a book that my grandma is letting me borrow. I get excited every time she lets me borrow a book or suggests a book for me to read because I’ve loved every single book she’s ever recommended to me. I’m only a few pages in and I’m loving it already.
How about you?
