…The smell of lilacs. And Bracken reminding me to stop and smell them every time we walk past.

…Looking out the window to see Jeff in the garden. Nothing makes his soul so happy as his garden time!

…Talking with my grandma on the phone while I mended Bracken’s pants, by sewing a patch on the hole in the knee. (It had been in my “need to mend” basket since the fall, so I was really happy to finally finish it.)

…The chickens being okay when Jeff went out to check on them in the middle of the night because they were making such a racket!

…Garden walks in the rain.

…Jeff’s creativity in fixing things that break. The way his mind works fascinates me, especially when my brain doesn’t see a way to fix that particular item at all.

…Having a knitting project in the car so I could keep my hands busy when we got stopped on the highway for construction twice.

…Spending time with other mamas with little ones, talking about things we can all relate to so much.

…Lamb baking in the oven.

…Being able to call my mom for some laughter and understanding when I need it. And my mom’s reassuring, encouraging, and supportive words on hard days.

…Bracken painting with watercolors at the kitchen table while I cooked lunch at the stove.

…My sister being safe after a drunk driver almost hit her while she was riding her bike home.

…Eating kale from our garden.

…Bracken making us smile when he decorated Jeff’s shoes with some Christmas stickers.

…Our friends sharing with us the happy news of their new baby girl!! (I had been thinking about them every single day, wondering when their little one would arrive and who it would be.)
