…Knitting…
No, this isn’t a blanket (though it certainly looks like one.) It’s the world’s largest farmer’s market bag! Not really, but it’s huge. I wanted to get a picture of Bracken holding it up so you could see how big it is, but there was a downpour outside and Bracken was taking his nap by the time I got a chance to photograph this. It’s folded up so you can’t see the size, but it’s the equivalent of a large pillowcase. I started it at the end of March last year. I had some old worsted weight yarn in my stash in a hemp/wool blend. It was a bit rough and I didn’t really want to knit anything for us to wear in it. But it was strong and sturdy and I thought it would make the perfect yarn for a farmer’s market bag. I cast on using size 6 needles and knit in the round. (Don’t know how many stitches I cast on, I never wrote it down. It was a lot.) It was a great project because I was in absolutely no hurry to finish it. I just wanted an easy knitting project to have stashed in the car for spare moments. Over a year later and I’ve actually finished knitting it. (I just kept going until I ran out of yarn.) It looked like a long tube. I stitched along the bottom. The next step is to felt it. I’ll stick it in the washing machine and see how much it shrinks up. It’s going to be one strong bag!
…Reading…
I got ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ from the library after Ginny recommended it so highly. I had read it a long time ago, but hardly remembered anything (was just not ready for it at that age.) I’m so glad I decided to read it again. I just finished it. It truly is one of the best books I’ve ever read. There were some characters I adored so much. I finished the last word and then I kept flipping to the next page, even though I knew there was nothing more. I just didn’t want it to end. I always feel that way after a book I love. Jeff is reading it now. He was in the same boat as me, had read it so long ago, but didn’t remember hardly a thing. As I read it this time, it felt all new and yet at the same time familiar.
I’m craving more classics to read now. Any suggestions?
