…Knitting…
I’m knitting a little project for May Faire. I made some progress at market on Saturday, which was unexpected and also nice because I haven’t made much knitting progress this week. I’ll write more about the project (and show you) when I finish.
…Reading…
I just finished reading ‘How to Sew a Button: And Other Nifty Things Your Grandmother Knew’ by Erin Bried. I came across it at the library and it looked like fun. It was enjoyable and funny to read, the author has a good sense of humor. I was excited when I saw quotes included from Mildred Armstrong Kalish who wrote ‘Little Heathens’ (a book I love and highly recommend.) There were lots of interesting tidbits, like natural cleaning tips . A pair of socks that I knit for Jeff have big holes in the bottoms and after reading the part on darning socks, I feel more inspired to try fixing them. There were quotes and wisdom from different grandmothers who had lived through the Great Depression. One quote I loved I wasn’t able to find when I went back to look for it, but here’s another one that stood out:
“Learn to enjoy what you have and stop wanting so much. Life is about loving each other. Get what you can, enjoy what you have, aspire to higher things, but not to a point where it becomes an obsession. Be happy with what you have and continue to strive for more.” -Grace Fortunato
