…The scent of the first honeysuckle blooming in the garden. I love that smell.
.
…Washing a load of woolens. (On these hots days it’s surprising we’re still even wearing wool, but it keeps us cozy in the mornings before the day heats up.)
.
…Saying “oh well” to things that are out of my hands.
.
…Seeing that we’re up to nine out of thirty five mason bee tubes filled with clay. (Yes, in our excitement, we count them regularly.)
.
…That we had an abundance of eggs in the fridge when I dropped a whole basket of them as I was coming to the house from the chicken coop. It made it not quite so sad that I dropped a whole day’s worth of eggs.
.
…A family dance party when we went to visit Jeff in his shop and he had the music cranked up.
.
…The kind man who came to help get our internet going when it went out again on Thursday.
.
…Jeff bringing me lunch out to the car. (Bracken had fallen asleep for his nap during our drive home and I was sitting in there, knitting until he woke up. He was so kind to bring me a delicious meal.)
.
…Going on a woodland walk with friends and finding red huckleberries and yellow salmonberries to eat. The boys loved it.
.
…That the bear didn’t do too much damage when it climbed over our fence and knocked over our compost tumbler, among other things.
.
…Jeff walking out the door with fresh juices in his hands just as I was coming inside to make some. (He had seen all the vegetables and everything I had washed and ready by the sink and read my mind.)
.
…Seeing my friend’s very first knitted hat, loving how excited she was about it, and sharing in her enthusiasm. (Yay for another knitter in the world!)
.
…Seeing a bald eagle flying by the river on the drive to town. What a sight!
.
…Load after load of laundry dried on the line in the hot sun.
.
…Bracken completely immersed in treasure hunting for strawberries (and celebrating each ripe -and at times not-so-ripe- ones he found) while I watered the garden.
.
…A blog reader and her sweet family coming to visit us at market yesterday.
