…Knitting…
Since my mom has opened her gift, I can safely share the finished owl purse that I made for her. I was scrambling to get it mailed out in time. I added tassles on the bottom of the purse. Then I attached an old leather belt that had been my mom’s years ago, to use for the strap. I was really excited to surprise her with that part. Jeff made special buttons in reclaimed mountain mahogany wood for the owl eyes. Then I attached a button in black walnut near the top that a yarn loop hooked around, for the closure. The yarn is Quince & Co. Puffin in the Peaks Ferry colorway. It’s a bright and fun color and I enjoyed knitting in a color I don’t knit with much. My Ravelry notes are here, in case you’re interested. Jeff had a really good idea to attach the buttons with the buttonholes vertically because it made them look much more like owl eyes. I didn’t have time to block it, but a spritz of water and a bit of ironing on the wool setting did the trick. (That was news to me, I didn’t know our iron had a wool setting.)
How about you?
