Jeff runs our Mystic Orb shop and I run our Wooly Moss Roots shop, but lately I’ve been busy helping him get the Mystic Orb shop filled up with new items because he’s been creating up a storm. In September I gave you a peek behind the scenes of our photo shoot for our Mystic Orb shop. I meant to do another post sharing many of the pictures from the photo shoot, but wanted to wait until we felt we had our shop more ready for the “unveiling.” Well, we’ve still been working on the shop! I realize it will always be a work in progress, but we’re excited to show you some of the new things we’ve been working on.

IMG_7295What you’ll find the most of in the shop right now is earrings. Oh, have we been having fun designing earrings! (And the ideas are constantly flowing in.) At market I’m often asked why I don’t wear our earrings and the answer is that I’m allergic to all metals. So much so that wearing earrings is not an option for me, which is a bummer because I would love to wear ours, but luckily I get to enjoy the beautiful wooden necklaces that Jeff creates. (The ear wires we use are sterling silver plated, by the way, but can easily be switched if another kind of metal needs to be used.)

We needed some earring models and then we connected with some wonderful gals, Renee and Calla, who were models for us. They were bright, radiant, and an absolute delight to work with. Their photographer friend, Autumn, joined us for the day, sharing some pictures with us. She was adorable and we asked if she’d be willing to model some earrings for us too. So we ended up with three models that day and it felt like such a blessed photo shoot for us. For those who visit us at market they can see and feel our earrings in person, but for our online customers we wanted to be able to show what our earrings look like being worn.

IMG_6049 - CopyI told you about the laser and how much that’s been changing our lives. Everything Jeff makes still requires a lot of sanding, polishing, oiling, designing, basically a lot of handmade love. But now he doesn’t have to burn and carve each and every piece by hand. His body is thanking him!

IMG_3794The other wonderful thing about the laser is that we are able to offer our items at lower prices than we were able to previously. We have so much gorgeous wooden jewelery available at amazing prices now in the shop.
