Thursday morning I asked about the trilliums and no sooner had I asked… later that day we saw lots and lots of them, about an hour from our house as we walked through the woods with friends. (And Bracken found some treasures on our walk, one he thought would be great for a bird’s nest.)
Your boy sounds as though in a few years he will like mine. Josh started off with sticks, stones and he loved making bird’s nests out of dried grass. Now at ten years old we have a playhouse with a frog skeleton, disused bird’s nests, a mummified rat and a snake skin among others!! (you may have seen my ‘playhouse project and boyish treasures?). Lol Sharon xx
I’ve never seen a trillium in real. They look very beautiful. Are they scented?
Lovingly Sita
A friend said they do. Bracken and I smelled them the other day and I didn’t smell anything, but I’ll still check next time. 🙂
I love to find trilliums in the spring. But we won’t see any here til late April. The woods are full of them. And Mayapples too. Do y’all have Mt. Laurel and wild azaleas there?
As far as I know, we have wild rhododendrons, but not wild azaleas. I know we have laurel here, but I don’t think it’s mt. laurel because I just looked up pictures and it doesn’t look the same. Now I’m trying to figure out which kind we have. 🙂
Those may be a Southern bush. They are so beautiful, all scattered along the mountains in later spring.
