Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…Bees buzzing around the huckleberry blossoms.
.
…How rejuvenating some time outdoors feels for all of us.
.
…Surprising a friend at work and the smile on their face when they saw us.
.
…My little kitchen helper enthusiastically sweeping the floor and always wanting to do dishes.
.
…The whole stack of egg cartons that were given to us, saving us from buying them. It’s always amazing how fast those eggs cartons disappear. (Locals: if you have extra egg cartons, we’d love them! Thank you!)
.
…Good deals on fresh produce, which is what we buy the most of at the grocery store.
.
…Bracken’s excitement when he tells me about things in the garden.
.
…How good it felt to be barefoot in the grass after a rain.
.
…Jeff getting the bat out of the house when it was flying around the living room. (It came through the door left open or the woodstove door left open when we hadn’t lit a fire that day. Either way, it scared the daylights out of me.)
.
…How happy Bracken was that our duck, Fennel, let him pet her. She lets us get close, but usually she is pretty shy.
.
…A warm mug of tea before bed.
.
…The first seeds of the season planted here.
.
…The surprise of my sister calling on the way to the airport so we could catch up.
.
…Listening to the sound of the rain on the roof and knowing the earth is getting a good soaking, which it really needed around here.
.
…Jeff making incredibly delicious garlic clams for dinner when we found them on super sale.
