I wanted to tell you about a new weekly photo contest at the Eugene Saturday Market. The first week’s theme was chickens and the second week was blue. On Saturday I made it a fun game with Bracken to walk around and look for blue things. It was like a treasure hunt for us and he would excitedly point in a booth and say “blue mom!” (By the way, I’m glad we went that day. We were a bit unsure, since the forecast mentioned thunderstorms, but when a skunk crawled under our house that morning and sprayed I took it as an affirmation that yes, we should leave the house that day and go to market. And there were no thunderstorms after all.)
Back to the contest. The way it works is: customers can spy something at the market with that week’s theme, take a picture of it (with the permission of the artist and giving them credit for their work) and post it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the tag for the week. (Example: #ISpyChickens or #ISpyBlues.) Each tagged photo has a chance to win and winner will be chosen at random. Each week has a different prize. You can find more details on the market blog. You can also like the market facebook page and see the week’s theme there. (I’m a vendor so I was not participating in the contest, just playing along to spread the word about it here.)
I wanted to tell you locals about it in case you’d like to join in the fun!

Hello!
Those spruce shoots can also be cupped fine and mixed with honey. And also lacto fermented, alone or with other spring greens. :). Also eat raw. The vitamin c will be killed by high tem
