Okay, I wore it right-side out this time. (Aren’t you so proud of me?) Ahh yes, much better. There are those beautiful cables! I feel like I officially broke in my new hat last weekend when I wore it all day at the market. I’ve been wearing it practically every day since as well. I love it. I think it’s the most lovely thing I’ve ever knit. I knelt down by the fence so Jeff could get some pictures of the top of the hat as well, to show you. (Oh, and yes. That is a random spoon in the background. Bracken has been known to squirrel them out of the kitchen to use them in the garden for digging.)
Sometimes when I hold or look at something I’ve knit, memories come back to me about what I was doing when I was knitting it. (Does that happen to you other knitters out there?) I’ll always remember that I finished knitting this hat on our drive home from Jeff’s surprise party, when we were still glowing from it all, casting off the last stitch as we drove up the driveway. Then I wove in the ends that night when we got home. This hat also makes me think so much of my sister, since she introduced me to Hermione, the inspiration behind the pattern. I like to think I’ll be imbued with some of Hermione’s awesomeness every time I wear it too.

That hat is so pretty and it suits you perfectly. Cables scare me!

Thanks Chrisoula! And don’t be scared of cables, they are much easier than they look!! A cabled headband is a great project to learn with. This was my first cable project: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/TarynKaeWilson/multiple-plait-cable-headband

As soon as I saw that first pic of you, I thought “Holy cow, Bracken is her mini-me!” LOL

The hat looks great! I love Hermione too! We are always low on spoons and find them out in the garden too. I love it when you second glance at a photo and find something else there. So true about the knitting memories as well! x

I’m finding it hilarious that so many others find spoons in their yards as well!
