…Joining Ginny’s YarnAlong, sharing what I’m knitting and reading…
…Knitting…
I’m back to knitting on my Abalone. I love it because it’s very easy knitting and will continue to be so for quite some time. It doesn’t require any concentration and I can carry on conversations without fear of messing up. My favorite kind of knitting there is! The natural hues in the yarn are making stripes of color throughout, it’s so beautiful.
…Reading…
For a very long time I’ve wanted to read ‘The Secret Life of Bees.’ Recently a friend told me a story about that book and what it meant to her. Her story touched me and the next time I was at the library I searched the book out.
This book is amazing! It’s hard to put down. It’s one of those books where the writing is so beautiful and there are so many bits of wisdom and grace woven throughout, you just want to jot down quotes from the entire thing to save and look back on. When you love a book so much do you ever want to crawl inside it and have the characters for your real-life friends?
How about you? Knitting? Reading?
P.S. Tomorrow I’ll post pictures of my hat right side out!

I love this book! 🙂 It reminds me a lot of The Help, which is also a fantastic read if you’ve not read it.

I love this book too. I’ve already read it twice and seen the movie several times. It’s just one of those books that you want to keep forever and read it over and over. It never gets old for sure.
My bee hive is getting bigger and bigger. I hope to get honey soon. I love bees.
I’m working on a Sunburst Granny Square blanket. It’s crocheted from 100% cotton yarn. I love it. Putting it together whenever I get the chance to just sit. I’ll post pics on my blog as I go along.

I’m looking forward to seeing the movie when I finish the book. That’s exciting about your bee hive! And that Sunburst Granny Square blanket sounds like a fun project.

I read that book when I was pregnant with my third. I loved every word of it. When I was reading it I knew the baby who was in my belly that was due in May had to be named May ( if it was a girl) based on that book. She was indeed born in May and we did name her Mai – we choose the French way of spelling it.
I have read books in the past that when it is over…I mourn the ” loss ” of my ” friends” and spending time with them each day. I particularly remember after finishing one book in my 20’s being in a bit of a funk afterwards like my best friend had moved away … That is when you know it is a good book when you miss the characters being part of your life.

So well said! That’s the feeling exactly.
And Mai… such a pretty way to spell it!!

I love that book too. I think when I read it I ignored everyone for two days while I lived in the book, resenting the times I had to put it down to eat or use the bathroom or sleep. Enjoy!

I can relate to feeling that way when I’m reading a good book!! 🙂
