Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…The wild roses in bloom by the chicken coop. They are so beautiful and they smell wonderful.
.
…Jeff replacing the old screen in our bedroom window with one that fits much better. With this hot weather, the open windows are so welcome (and keeping flies out at the same time, very welcome too.)
.
…Using my sewing machine to make something last longer, rather than replacing it. That was such a good feeling.
.
…The things kids say. Bracken told me he needed to open up the window before bed so the garden could hear him say goodnight. Bless his heart. “Goodnight garden. Goodnight chickens. Goodnight ducks…”
.
…Being able to find things that we needed secondhand and saving so much money. Thank you thrift stores!
.
…Having a headset for our phone again, making it easier to talk to my loved ones. I was able to unload the car while I talked to my dad, do dishes while I talked to my mom, and hang laundry on the line and water the raspberries while I talked to my sister.
.
…Being flexible and going with the flow when life decides to invite us on an adventure. I do love a good adventure.
.
…New places. New sights. New connections.
.
…The wild canaries that visit us sometimes and sing so beautifully.
.
…Being able to share things we don’t need with people who do.
.
…Eating homemade strawberry popsicles out in the garden with our friends on a hot day. Dripping juicy chins, smiling faces, sticky hands… and a garden hose nearby for easy clean up.
.
…The fact that it’s the time of year for hanging laundry outside on the line again. I love bringing in clothes all warm with sunshine.
.
…Sauerkraut jarred up with lots of garlic. Yum, yum, yum.
.
…Having the first weekend at home in a long time.

Love your list Taryn as always!
Throughout my week I have felt greatful for the flowers that come up around our house or the ones I have planted in pots.
The warmth of the sun and the fading memories or our incredibly harsh winter.
Clothes on the line and the smell of them when they are dry.
The smell of our lilac trees.
The weekend camping we had with 2 others families and the continuous joy seeing the kids so happy and free.
The beam of sunshine that is splashed across my bed as I comfort my youngest who woke up with a stomach virus 🙁
May all your days this week provide you with gratefulness Taryn !

Are you saying these stripey roses are wild in your yard? They remind me of York and Lancaster. Or maybe it’s Rosa Mundi – I’ll be that’s what it is! Look it up, Taryn. The old roses are so nice.
While I’m here, I’ll say I’m thankful for my friend Debra, who picked two quarts of farmers’ market strawberries for me. We had shortcake yesterday, and today I made strawberry balsamic freezer jam. Also, for the beautiful warm sunny day; time to sit outside on a quilt with a kitty; fireflies at night.

Hi Lisa,
Yes, those roses grow wild in our yard so we always called them wild roses. 🙂 I looked it up and they definitely look like Rosa Mundi, thanks for the name, now I know what to call them!
And I love your gratitudes, so many good things. Fireflies at night… where do you live? We don’t get them here in Oregon, but I grew up with them in Iowa.
Love,
Taryn

I live in Connecticut – I thought they were everywhere in this country! I know they don’t have them in England. I just read “Out of Africa” – they have them there, too. Too bad Bracken doesn’t get to see them!

I thought they were everywhere across the country too, when I lived in the Midwest. I fell in love with Oregon, but I was greatly disappointed when they didn’t have fireflies here. (Or those loud thunderstorms from the Midwest I was used to.) We went back to Iowa last summer to visit family and Bracken saw fireflies. I said his childhood wouldn’t be complete without seeing them! 🙂
