Jeff and Bracken came across a little surprise in the garden on Sunday. Bracken ran into the kitchen where I was making breakfast and insisted I come outside right away to see something. Our first mushroom! I came back later with my camera to document our very first (this year) little white elm mushroom. We weren’t expecting to see any already. It showed up exactly one week from the time we spread the spawn in the garden. (We spread the spawn on July 5th, I wrote about it here on the 11th, and we saw our first mushroom on the 12th.) We’ve seen a few more since. We were very surprised to see mushrooms so soon and are happy to see that our experiment is working. Now if we could get a whole bunch of those yummy mushrooms to eat, growing right in our garden, we’ll be really happy!
That’s fantastic, I hope you get lots more!
