In the garden:
Harvesting lately:
-Lettuce, lettuce & more lettuce. (salads every day. and when friends come over? giant salads!)
-Peas. (almost time to pull the plants up, so enjoying the last of them.)
-Chard. (that white stuff in the picture? diatomaceous earth, a natural way to deal with the bugs we saw on our chard for the first time ever. so far so good.)
-Kale. (we could never grow enough, with how much we eat of it.)
-Collards. (same as above.)
-Nettles. (sauteed in coconut oil with mushrooms and grass fed lamb… yum!)
-Beets. (so delicious, ate them for breakfast before we got a picture.)
-Arugula. (always a favorite in salads.)
-Cilantro Flowers. (new discovery. ever tried them? they’re spicy.)
-Nasturtium Flowers & Calendula Flowers. (put on salads because they’re so pretty. added bonus: another excuse for somebody to pick flowers.)
-Strawberries. (here and there.)
-Raspberries. (everyday. and we all know who camps out there these days.)
-Blackberries. (the first of the season from the thornless blackberry we planted last year, growing up an old fence. with many more coming, it’s loaded this year!)
On the way:
-Zucchini. (the plants we put in the ground earliest are covered in tiny squash, won’t be long!)
-Grapes. (looks like they’ll be early this year, shown next to my hand to show how big they are already.)
Other garden things:
-St. Francis. (getting covered in grapes and needing to be moved to a new spot.)
-Bracken. (wearing jeff’s sweater one morning, giant on him, and looking so sweet in it. luckily captured right before the sun warmed things up and the sweater was thrown off.)
What’s growing in your July gardens?

What a wonderful garden!. I love a big salad of greens. Sometimes we forget all of the work that goes into having such a bounty right in your own backyard. We have alot of flowers on the front deck but do also have herbs, garlic and a beautiful, big plant of parsley.

Oh.. that sweater. Priceless. And it looks like he’s got the worlds most photogenic blackberry in his hand. What a bounty! 🙂

The portrait type photo of Bracken by the fuchsia with his eyes cast upwards is so beautiful. So pure…looking like his Mama…
