{Sunday’s heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitudes.}

Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…Bright yellow flowers that make me happy every time I see them. Something about that vibrant, cheery color.
.
…A little bit of rain. (!) The dry earth really needed it, as did our garden. (And a wee bit less fire risk in these parts too.)
.
…Baked beets from our neighbor’s garden. They’re so delicious when they’re baked, it really brings out the sweetness.
.
…Making up a recipe as I went along and having it turn out beyond my expectations. (When I tweak it a bit more, I’ll be sure to share.)
.
…Visiting our neighbor and celebrating her 86th birthday with her.
.
…Jeff and Bracken watering the garden while I cleaned the kitchen. I love my kitchen time.
.
…Bracken asking for more and more cod for dinner, and eating it all up.
.
…Enjoying the first apples from the farmer’s market. And then trading for some plums and raspberries.
.
…Exploring avenues and getting answers. Don’t know unless you try.
.
…Bracken picking blackberries and catching crickets while I hung laundry on the line.
.
…Pulling weeds for the chickens and watching them all come running for the greens.
.
…A little bit of free time, to relax, and not rush about. Even for a short period of time, it makes such a difference.
.
…Longer stretches between grocery store visits when we are bringing in so much from the garden.
.
…Fresh ideas for old recipes to liven them up and make them more delicious. And to keep us excited about eating them.
.
…Bracken grabbing a vase in the pantry, filling it with water, and having the idea to make a vase of flowers from the garden.
.
…Being in the garden, savoring my bare feet on the earth and the warmth of the sun on my skin.
.
…A cold glass of lemon water on a hot day.
.
…Finishing my mom’s birthday present just in the nick of time and getting it mailed out.
.
…A picnic with friends, sharing good food.
.
…Long walks in beautiful places.
