Today Bracken and I went to the Hult Center for the Performing Arts for the first time. We joined a homeschool group that was going. As soon as the opportunity was presented, I knew we’d want to be a part of it. (I told him that we were going to dress up for a special occasion, so he grabbed his bowtie. Love.) Years ago Bracken watched a dance that he still talks about. He does regular dance performances for us at home, so I thought this experience would be simply amazing for him and it was.
We got to attend World Beats. This was the description: “The Eugene Symphony will present an elementary concert to celebrate the diversity found in the one universal language: music. Join us as we experience the sounds, movements, and languages of cultures from around the world.” We got to listen to music from South America, Russia, China, Africa, Spain, and more. We watched a flamenco dancer, ballerinas, and we saw instruments we’d never seen before. The Hult Center was packed with kids and I saw lots of smiles as I looked around. What a fun day!

Wow! What an incredible first experience!!! Isn’t it a beautiful theater? I have had the opportunity to perform on that stage twice in my life. In my former life I sang with the UO Children’s Choir and I was chosen to recite a poem on the stage during my high school graduation. So excited for Bracken!!!

Yes, it’s such a beautiful theater! I can’t believe it’s taken us so many years to go there. I want to look up more events happening there now. Bracken will be so excited when I tell him that you performed there!! I told him he might be on that stage someday and he smiled about that idea. 🙂
