Bracken and I visited friends this week. Bracken drew a picture of a “heart person” as he called it and I loved it so much, I took a picture. I ate raw asparagus, fresh out of the garden, for the first time. It practically melted in my mouth and was amazingly delicious. Our day was filled with admiring the tall pea plants shooting up in their greenhouse, walks in the woods (and popping lemony-fresh wood sorrel straight into our mouths), picking flowers (which has always been one of Bracken’s favorite things to do), splashing in puddles, and little boys helping plant broccoli starts in the garden (and preparing the plant beds with tractors, a necessary step.) Time in the woods, time in the garden, and especially time with friends, makes for a good day.

I’m a tad bit jealous at all of your flowers and plants! My daughter took a walk tonight and did get pictures of some early leaves on wild shrubs (we don’t know what type they might be – but green leaves are certainly a welcome sight right now!)

It does sound wonderful. Your spring is so much more advanced than ours.
