Today’s giveaway is brought to you by WoolyMossRoots Sponsor- Sweetbrier Farms.
You may recognize Stephinie from her previous business name- Gypsy Forest. I love Stephinie’s notecards, Bracken loves her playsilks, and we have a silk banner she made that we love so much that it has a permanent spot on the wall in our living room. We’ve had the pleasure of trying out her super salve (it smells amazing!) and even though we make our own salve, I also use Stephinie’s, which shows just how very much I love it. Stephinie has been making some exciting shop changes, which she’ll share about with you more today.
You can stay in touch with Sweetbrier Farms through Instagram, Facebook, and their Blog.
WoolyMossRoots: I’ve always loved your shop and everything you make, Stephinie, and now I’m excited about some of the new items you’ve been introducing. Tell us about this new venture.
Sweetbrier Farms: Thank you for your kind words about my work Taryn!
For those of you who haven’t met us yet, we’re a family of six living on the south coast of Massachusetts. We have a small urban farm where we grow vegetables, berries, raise chickens, and keep honeybees. Aside from farm chores, I spend my days learning about herbs, homeschooling 3 of our 4 children (one has graduated!), teaching art class, and sneaking in some knitting or sewing. Our business is truly family run with lots of hands helping to make it all happen. Our days are busy, but our hearts are full.
There have definitely been a lot of changes in our shop over the last year! I took my long time love of herbs onto a more structured path. I started with completing a local seven month apprenticeship and I’m currently studying in a formulation and clinical class along with working part time at a local herb apothecary. With my children getting older, I am finding myself with a gift called free time, and I am filling it with herbs!
The goods in the shop are reflecting this change. I have less children’s items for sale and more handcrafted herbal goods. There are a few tea blends, some lovely natural soaps, our amazing Super Salve and our new line of wildcrafted herbal extracts! I’m really enjoying the alchemy of crafting goods infused with the healing power of plants. The entire journey has deepened my connection with nature and rekindled my love of learning in a whole new way. I’ve also started to collaborate with my husband who is a potter, look for some of his work in the shop later this month!
Another exciting change for our family is that we bought our farm! After many months (years!) of searching, we found our land. Or, I like to think it found us. We bought 29 acres of old farmland in northern New York near my husband’s family and we’re in the process of saving to build our home so we can move north full time. I’ll be sharing this story as it unfolds on our blog. As an herbalist, having this much land to explore and get to know is such a gift. This is what started our collection of tinctures made from wildcrafted ingredients. Our herbal extracts are made in small batches with sustainably wildcrafted medicinal herbs from our land in New York and our homestead here in Massachusetts. I’m pretty excited to share them with the world!
Lastly, connection is the true core of our business – we believe people these days like to know where their money goes and who is making their goods and what is in them! We live in a time were busy unconnectedness is far to common, and we strive to make authentic connection with our customers while making really awesome sustainable products to enrich their lives.
Thank you for sharing your space with us Taryn, we look forward to meeting some of your readers.
