I just finished up the first sleeve this evening of a baby sweater I’m knitting for a gift. I’ve only knit a few sweaters and I’ve been learning a lot with this one. All of my knitting has been for gifts lately, and I’ve been waiting to share about my projects until the gifts have all been received. It was rainy out when I wanted to take a knitting picture today, so I stuck my knitting basket over by the window near the wood stove. (That’a a pile of firewood in the background.) Our wood stove doesn’t have much variance in temperature, it’s either on and we’re all sweating and it feels like a sauna in our house, or it’s off and the house gets cold. They say saunas are good for you, so I guess our family is getting a healthy sauna therapy treatment all winter long.
I stayed up late to finish reading my book last night because it was due back at the library. (Needing to return library books on time gets me to finish books and needing to send gifts in time gets me to finish handknits.) I finally finished reading Winterdance, I know I’ve mentioned it here a few times. I was glad I read it, I enjoyed the story, and the author is an amazing writer… but I didn’t like the ending. The ending didn’t ruin the book for me, but it did make me turn the page to see if there was something more and then say “That’s it? Really?” Even so, I’m still searching out more books by Gary Paulsen.
I also wanted to say thank you for your comments on yesterday’s post. The thing about blogging is that you “put yourself out there” again and again, which isn’t always an easy thing to do. Your kindness is always so appreciated, thank you.

Sometimes I think if it wasn’t for the library deadline, no book would get finished. A sweater for a gift … beautiful!
I like the color of your yarn.
I had to laugh when I read about your woodstove. Same thing here. Hot or cold. I do open windows when no one is looking. Just a crack. The fresh air is good for us and it does cool it down some. Just another one of mom’s secrets!
I love your blog so much; you have no idea. It has become part of my daily routine. My “me-time” with a nice cup of tea. Thank you for sharing your life so beautifully and so eloquently. -♡-
P.S.: I think you would really enjoy reading “The Cherry Harvest” by Lucy Sanna.
I can’t wait to see the finished sweater! LOVE that color!!
Sooo inspiring!!! XX
Library deadlines have spurred me into finishing a lot of books 🙂
Such a sweet thing to gift to someone else! I have recently begun knitting again, it is my most favourite hobby at the moment, even though I’m a terrible slob at it!
Once I get through my current project, (a scrap yarn blanket) I hope to have made all.the.mistakes…. and be good enough to attempt a project meant for someone else :). Thanks for sharing the lovely photo, serves as good inspiration for this newbie.
Oh, and in case you’re looking for your next read, I am currently working my way through Nadine Gordimer’s collection of short stories—-Life Times ;), highly recommend!
I love to read your blog. I only read a few and yours is one. Someday I, too, would like to start a blog, but what would I say…..?!
I did think that your blog about Bracken’s speech was very well done.
Take care.
