Wow, I’ve written quite a few posts about butterflies at this point, haven’t I? I don’t think that will be ending anytime soon, the butterfly love just seems to be continually growing around here.
Bracken had so much fun hatching out the painted lady butterflies last time that Jeff immediately ordered more caterpillars for him. They arrived while Bracken and I were on our trip and when we returned, we were able to watch the caterpillars grow, and then form their chrysalises. They hatched out (all five this time) and Bracken gathered flowers for them and we fed them sugar water (and a bit of orange) for a few days while we enjoyed them in the house. Then it was time to release them into the garden.
The really fun thing is that weeks after we had released the painted lady butterflies the first time, we spotted them around the garden quite a few times. Bracken was so excited every time he saw them. (We saw a painted lady butterfly an hour and a half from home and he thought that one was one of ours too, bless his heart.) This week we had a nice sunny day and it was perfect for releasing the butterflies into the garden. They all flew off, except for one. It was having a hard time flying very far. It seemed to have something wrong with one of it’s eyes and one of it’s legs. (Bracken spotted both of those things and made me aware of them.) We kept checking on it and it hadn’t moved much.
So, Bracken put that butterfly back into it’s house and kept it for one more day. He wanted it to be a bit stronger before he released it. The next day he was able to show his butterfly to some of his friends and then when it came time to release it, that extra TLC seemed to do the trick, because it was able to fly easily and went off to live with it’s other butterfly friends in the garden. Hatching out butterflies has been such a fun and amazing experience for us. (I’m still thinking about Bracken’s special butterfly friend the first time around and how he put it in a wagon pulled by his toy tractor and gave it tractor rides around the living room. Priceless.) Now we’re talking about ant farms and ladybug houses and praying mantises… the insect fun never ends around here!

I really enjoy your sharing about the butterflies! They so peaceful. The ant houses… I’m not sure if I would like those, lol; though, they are interesting to see work. But ladybugs and praying mantises, I look forward to reading what you share! I’m sure it will be beautiful!

Hi wasn’t sure how to email you so I will leave it here. I found a blog called Live Simply the blogger is Kristin Marr. It is about whole food eating. She has a post about her son’s speech issue and how they healed/corrected it. It sounds just like the article you wrote on your son. I thought you might want to read it. I’m not a doctor , but it’s been bugging me ever since I read it, like I am suppose to pass it on to you.
God bless
