1: I thought we would only be harvesting nettles in the spring, but Jeff brought in some beautiful harvests in the summer months too. We love juicing them.
2: Our little pond (where the Buddha statue lives) is so overgrown right now that you can hardly tell we have a pond. I think it looks like a jungle and I kind of like it.
3 & 4: The runner beans have grown much taller since I took these pictures. Jeff and Bracken pulled up all the peas (except for a few plants they wanted to let go for seed), and instead of eating peas from the garden we’ve been eating green beans.
5, 6, 7, 8 & 9: Jeff covered our best producing blueberry bush this year with bird netting and it was a good thing because the birds would have got them. Bracken would carefully pull up the bird netting and go under it to pick blueberries. Our blueberries are nearing the end for the season now. (Most had been picked by the time I took a picture.)
10 & 11: It hasn’t been a very good year for huckleberries this year, but we’re still getting little handfuls.
12: The sunflowers are nearly as tall as me since I took these pictures.
13 & 14: Interesting little friends of all kinds are constantly found by the insect-loving boy! He has indeed quizzed me on different types of bugs and when I properly identified a mosquito hawk the other night (we like them, they eat mosquitoes), he gave me his stamp of approval.
15: He is always bringing flowers in.
16: And Jeff has been bringing in giant bowls of lettuce as often as we can eat them. Salads with breakfast and dinner are a common sight around here and we all love them.
A few things are wrapping up in our July garden, but mostly many more things are on the way! What’s been growing in your garden lately?

Weird – the huckleberries were insanely productive here in the Pacific Northwest!
And what a great idea: juicing nettles! I have to try that!
