A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitudes.}

Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…Watching early morning light shine on a dahlia in the garden. We haven’t had dahlias growing here for years and we’re all so glad to have some growing here again (we want to plant more!) They’re so beautiful.
.
…Friends visiting and going on a walk, picking some berries, playing in the garden and sharing delicious food. Always a gift to have that time.
.
…The little hummingbird that came and visited me at the window when I was working one morning. They do that sometimes and I’m always surprised that they can stay in one place for that period of time because they’re constantly zooming around the garden, hardly stopping for a moment.
.
…The smell of plantains baking in the oven, with coconut oil and cinnamon. Yum!
.
…Getting back into good habits after being out of the swing of them for awhile.
.
…Being at the right place at the right time and running into a friend, when just seeing their face for a few minutes brightened our whole night.
.
…Jeff coming in from his shop to show me a new design or a new thing he has created. I love how excited he gets every time he has a breakthrough or comes up with something he’s thrilled about.
.
…My friend offering to bring me something from the farmer’s market when I didn’t have time to stop there that day, and bringing us a bag of cucumbers. She’s always thoughtful like that.
.
…Days of rain, rain, rain, which our garden and the forest needed and have been appreciating. (And Jeff was quite happy to get a break from watering the garden, which has been quite time consuming with the heat these days.)
.
…Garden harvests in the rain. And bringing in something from the garden every single day. I love that!
.
…Jeff’s gift for turning leftovers into such amazing meals. This week is was a soup. I use up leftovers, but I don’t have quite the same knack for making them as delicious as he does, so I appreciate what he creates.
.
…Cherries for dessert, from a local farm. What a treat!
