A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitudes.}

Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…Finally learning the name of the pretty little yellow flowers that grow around our yard. My friend told me they’re called Birdsfoot Trefoil and that the bees love them. (I recognized the name because of the books we adore with flower fairies by Cicely Mary Barker.)
.
…Eating breakfast outside one morning, which felt special because we don’t do that very often.
.
…Morning harvests in the garden and bringing in zucchini, cucumbers, lettuce, arugula, basil, chives, and bunching onions.
.
…Making another batch of pesto. And some lemon water with our second homegrown lemon of the year. (Yay!)
.
…Discovering new books we love from the library.
.
…Eating the very first fig from our fig tree we planted in May last year. That was so exciting!
.
…Park meets, and kids running and playing, and moms chatting. I’ve been relishing these summer park days.
.
…A kind farmer giving us a box of windfall peaches. I cut up the good parts and put them in the freezer. Peach smoothies? Yum!
.
…Getting a snail for Bracken’s fish tank. Now that fish tank holds a fish, frog, and a snail, and they bring a lot of entertainment.
.
…The thoughtful woman in the grocery store parking lot who came and asked if she could take my cart when she saw me unloading my groceries. That little act of kindness saved me a trip to return the cart and it made her happy to to do it.

Re: The woman taking back your shopping cart. I think that we don’t realize that accepting peoples offers of kindness to us usually brings the same satisfaction to them that their action brings to us.
