A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitudes.}

Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…The beautiful colors of fall, on the trees, and on the blueberry bushes in our garden. I love the colors of fall!
.
…Watching lightning out the window with Bracken in the early morning. Growing up in the Midwest, I saw lightning often, but he hasn’t seen that much of it so it was exciting.
.
…My friend teaching me about the settings on my camera so I could get clearer indoor pictures. That was so helpful! And I was thrilled to get the clearest indoor photos I’ve ever taken before.
.
…Baked acorn squash with ghee. I couldn’t believe how good it was. It was so sweet, it tasted like dessert.
.
…Finding homes for things we no longer needed, that friends could use.
.
…Sitting on the couch next to Bracken on a rainy day and reading a book together. Jeff came in from his workshop and sat next to us to hear the end of the story. I treasure our reading time together.
.
…Perspective. On a day when I felt that all of my challenges were so hard and a leaking roof and financial stresses felt so huge, I heard a loved one was in the hospital. They are back home and doing fine, but it sure put my day in perspective. There is always someone with a challenge far greater than our own.
.
…The sayings Bracken is constantly making up, that I love. One of my favorites lately has been when he says: slowly by slowly. We’ll get it done, slowly by slowly, mom.
.
…A clay face mask. I had been craving putting clay on my face for weeks, then finally did it and it felt so rejuvenating. I cracked up when Bracken saw me and told me I should wear that mask for Halloween. Ha!
.
…Fixing the seat in our car. We need one side in the backseat to go down to fit all our market stuff in there, but it was stuck in the upright position and was broken that way. We were a bit stressed with a festival coming up, knowing we couldn’t transport our things with the seat that way, and were so relieved when we were able to fix it!
.
…Getting to spend time with my dad yesterday. What a gift to have that time.
