I organized a field trip to Deck Family Farm with our homeschool group last week. Another mom organized a field trip there last year and it was so much fun that I asked if they were willing to give us a farm tour again. They were and once again, we had such a fun day. (Bracken is asking me to do this every year now, and I think that’s a great idea.) We love visiting Deck Family Farm and have known their sweet family for years. We’ve been out to the farm many times by this point, but getting to go on the full animal tour with a group of delighted children is the best, I just love it.
Seeing little hands (and bigger hands, these children grow fast!) holding fuzzy chicks and petting wooly lambs with sheer joy on their faces was such a delight. We saw pigs, piglets, and friendly dogs wanting some love. We saw cows too and some of the children bottle fed the calves. The chicks were a highlight for the children that day and even though we started the day by visiting them, they wanted to go back there a second time before we left. When the kids saw me taking pictures of the chicks, many of them came over to me asking me if I wanted to take a picture of the chick they were holding. Why yes, of course! If you want a popular field trip that will be a big hit with the whole crew, just include some baby animals! Thank you Deck Family Farm for another wonderful field trip!
P.S. I’ll be back here for Gratitude Sunday on Monday.
P.P.S. I want to let you know about their new Full Farm CSA. More details below.
