{G r a t i t u d e * S u n d a y :: Sunday’s heartfelt tradition.
A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitude.}

Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…Calendula flowers of all kinds in the garden this year. Jeff planted varieties we hadn’t planted before and we enjoyed seeing the different colors and petals.
.
…Small children surprising you with big words, like precarious. “That bowl is really precarious right now.” (I agreed, the bowl was right on the edge of the table, very precarious indeed.)
.
…Going through all our wool layers, making a pile with some of the things we no longer used or needed, and finding new homes to pass them along to. It always feels good to simplify around here and I love seeing things being worn rather than sitting somewhere unused.
.
…The guy who let us know that one of our headlights was out so I could take care of that in town before we drove home in the dark that night.
.
…Bracken’s delight when we finally found exactly what he had been searching for- a bonsai Japanese maple. He was very specific about what he was wanting. (Jeff lived in Japan for awhile when he was a boy and now Bracken shares his interest in bonsai trees.)
.
…Seeing a friend I hadn’t seen in many years and catching up for awhile.
.
…My aunt being safe after someone stole her car (and purse and phone inside) while she was at a gas station. It was such a scary experience for her, she literally stepped out of her car for a moment to take the gas pump out, and we were all feeling so grateful that she was unharmed.
.
…More firewood delivered to our house, and the kind guys who delivered it helping us move something heavy in the yard that would have been challenging for Jeff and I to do ourselves. (Though we have moved crazier things just the two of us in the past. Just count on Jeff to invent a way. Ha!)
.
…Bracken’s friend enjoying collecting feathers and catching bugs just as much as he does, and the two of them being completely content to do so for hours on end.
.
…Unraveling a small knitting project I had no interest in finishing. I saw it sitting there day after day, and never really wanted to deal with it because I didn’t like the way it was turning out and wasn’t excited about it anymore. It was such a relief to unravel it, I don’t know what I didn’t do that sooner.
