My mind has been on big things lately, so it feels nice to think about, and appreciate, some little things. Little things like mushrooms harvests…
B spotted some oyster mushrooms in the woods surrounding our house. One alder tree snag was covered in them, but they were out of reach. Luckily, though, he also noticed a fallen alder log nearby that had even more oyster mushrooms growing on it. He harvested a whole colander full. (Shown before they were washed, and then after they were washed.) It hasn’t even been a full two weeks since that first harvest, and we’ve already brought in two more harvests of oyster mushrooms from that same log! It seems as soon as we gather the mushrooms, more pop up. The rainy weather has been perfect for growing them, and we’ve been so grateful, they are such a delicious addition to our meals.
Jeff harvested some nettles too, and as much work as it takes to grow food in our garden, it’s pretty nice to find wild food already growing!
That is so AWESOME that B found the oysters!!! Luck you <3 We love our nettle patch. I could eat nettles every day of my life – slurp!!!
