Sometimes I’m a little behind on the news. I don’t watch television, and only listen to the radio on occasion. I get updated on current events online (and my family and friends keep me in the loop too), but there are times I go days with barely checking my computer.
In all honesty, the last few months I’ve needed breaks from the news. I’ve needed long days of physical labor out in the garden, and I’ve been grateful every time I’ve had that opportunity. The noisier the world seemed to be getting, the more I needed quiet to process everything. I’ve always felt that way, but especially the last few years. Though there may be a little lag time before I find out about things, it’s not much of one, because news travels fast.
Over the last week, as I’ve been processing what’s been happening in the U.S., my heart has been breaking for the pain and suffering in our world. Equality is so important. And it’s an important conversation to have. But instead of joining the conversation yet, I’ve been wanting to humbly listen. So I’ve been quiet here.
…I wonder how we can create a world with more peace, a world with more love. I wonder how I can be of service in that. I wonder a lot of things. I came across this quote and I find myself coming back to it often.
“People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
I think a good place to start is by listening to each other. Sending love to you all, as always.

P.S. Random picture. As I was snapping photos of buttons (with yarn) for the last shop update, B came and put a spring daisy on the skein, telling me he thought that would make a really good picture. Later, when I uploaded it to my computer and saw it again, it made me smile. As I looked for a picture for today’s post, it felt like the one.
