This morning Jeff said to me “I wonder how you propagate grapes?” So he looked it up online and read the directions to me.
Then our neighbor called. (The one with the best tasting concord grapes in the entire world, the ones I wrote about in A Very Happy Pregnant Lady .) He said that now was the time to propogate grapes if we wanted to swing by and take a few cuttings.
We needed to drive to Mapleton to mail out some Etsy orders and the Giveaway Gifts (hooray!) at the post office anyway. And they live right by there so we stopped by and Jeff got a few with buds of new growth on them.
I took this picture on the drive home while I held the glass of water holding the grape cuttings. Jeff and I talked about planting the whole hillside (and every spot we get sunlight) with grapes, blueberries, more grapes, and tons more blueberries. And these little cuttings are one step closer to that dream. We might have some of those incredible tasting grapes growing here someday and that makes me smile. Big.
