Throughout the week I’ve felt grateful for:
…The bright red burst of color in the midst of winter, on the berries hanging from the tree outside our friend’s house. (To admire, but not to eat, I’m sure! Anyone know what kind of tree? I searched, but didn’t find it.)
.
…Bracken’s new saying: “good hi” (instead of goodbye.) What a great greeting!
.
…Doing the dishes while I talked to my sister on the phone. I like when we are both accomplishing a lot around our houses and having a great conversation at the same time.
.
…Homemade bone broth. My body can’t get enough of it right now.
.
…Coming downstairs to a warm house and dishes done. Bless Jeff.
.
…Following my craving for lemon water and making some. A bit of fresh lemon just makes water so incredibly refreshing.
.
…How filling salmon is and how many meals we can get out of a single fish!
.
…Bracken saying “thank you mama” every time he lays down on the new blanket I made him.
.
…Our friend’s homemade guacamole. It’s so crazy good I swear I could eat gallons of the stuff.
.
…Watching Bracken’s joy (and then helping him a bit at the last part) climbing the small apple tree in our garden and getting to the top where he could peer inside the old robin’s egg nest.
.
…Jeff getting the blueberry bush transplanted that needed to be moved to a new location.
.
…Having a big ol’ bonfire and making lots of progress clearing up the yard from the storm debris still left and the branches (the ones he didn’t save to be made into buttons, of course) Jeff removed by the power lines.
.
…Bracken discovering that snowpants plus water on his slide made him go down really fast!
.
…The fact that the heavy rain started after we had worked hours and hours in the yard and then came inside.
.
…Local, organic cabbages on sale and turning some into sauerkraut. (And Jeff making some fermented carrots I can’t wait to try.)
.
…Jeff giving Bracken wagon rides around the yard.
.
…Bracken realizing he had forgotten his hat in the library and telling me so we could go get it.

The berry photos are wonderful! How pretty here in the middle of winter!
(By the way – My myrtle wood earrings arrived very quickly and I LOVE THEM.
I bought the a tree of life pattern a week or so ago. I lived in Oregon for quite a while a long time ago and one of the things I loved was the myrtle wood. I have a couple of small pieces – a “plate” and a bowl, and I love the warmth of the wood. It seems to have it’s own special song. So I’M grateful for Jeff’s skill and your wonderful Etsy shop!!! 🙂 )

I think it could it be Sorbus aria or something related from the Sorbus family. It’s definitly not red elderberry, the leaves and the fruits don’t match.

Wonderful list. Looks like a red elderberry maybe?
