…Joining Ginny’s YarnAlong, sharing what I’m knitting and reading…
…Knitting…
I finished the secret project and think I can safely talk about it now that I know it’s arrived by this time. My stepsister’s little guy just had his second birthday. I’d been wanting to knit him a hat, especially one in blue to match his blue eyes, but didn’t have enough yarn in the weight I wanted. It turned out to be a good thing because it inspired me to do stripes for the first time and I had enough of each color to finish the hat. (I know this isn’t the best picture, but I was weaving in the ends on the way to the post office and it was taken on the fence outside, with about ten minutes before they closed, so no time for further picture taking.) The grey yarn was from Timberwolf Farm and the blue yarn from Quince and Co. The pattern is called Magic Coffee Baby Hat and is available for free on Ravelry. A great pattern! The only modification I made to it was to make the stripes four rows rather than two because I thought it would be fun to do wider stripes. My other Ravelry notes are here, including the links I found incredibly helpful to make the pattern (easy technique to make jogless stripes, changing colors, etc.)
…Reading…
I had planned on saving the rest of the Little House books for when Bracken got a little bit older, but after we’d finished the first in the series he went over to the shelf looking for the next one, really wanting me to read it to him. So we started ‘Little House on The Prairie’ by Laura Ingalls Wilder. When we’ve read chapters just the two of us, we’ve gone back to read them to Jeff because he likes to hear it too, so now we’re just saving reading these chapters when all three of us are together. We all enjoy them very much. I think of my grandmother reading them to my mom and uncles, my mom reading them to my sister and I, and now reading them to Bracken… I feel I’m carrying on a family tradition.
How about you? Knitting? Reading?

My husband bought me the set of Little House book a few years ago and I still haven’t got around to reading them. Love the hat, great colours!
