I cleared our schedule for this week, even planning ahead and getting all we needed in town so we didn’t need to make any grocery store trips. We all needed some home time and Bracken needed a break from the extra driving we had been doing. Jeff had a lot of custom orders to make and I had a lot of catching up to do. There’s always so much to do around here that Jeff and I joke that even if we were both at a full run all day long we’d barely scratch the surface of what needs to be done. On the days we’re home it’s hard to get everything done that needs to be accomplished that day, but when we’re away from home more than usual, like with fairs, it makes it even harder to keep up. And can take awhile to catch up (somewhat) afterwards.
One recent morning I was making breakfast and Jeff was finishing something up in his shop. There was a lot to do before we needed to be somewhere. When Jeff came through the kitchen, Bracken grabbed him and grabbed me, put us in the center of the room, placed himself in the middle, and proceeded to encircle us all with a piece of yarn. (He had it on the ready, so he must have been planning.) When he finished tying us up, he declared that he wanted mama and dada time. Bless his heart. We had so much to do, but he wanted all the activity to stop and he couldn’t get us to slow down or get us to stop doing by any other means than tying us up with yarn.
So yes, some home time was needed. But then, Jeff’s tool broke and we ended up needing to make a trip to town after all. Home time would not have been that productive with business at a standstill and none of our custom orders getting finished up. I grabbed some knitting for the road (essential) and off we went on Wednesday morn. To make a long story short, we got an incredible deal and really lucked out. We’ve been working to get things back up and running again.
I wanted to let you know that we won’t be at market this weekend. Jeff will be busy making custom orders and I’ll be taking pictures of them and packaging them up to mail out. Not to mention all the others things that need doing around here. But, even with a very long to-do list, I’m thinking of Bracken’s yarn. Jeff has been taking breaks from his work each day to go on a berry adventure with Bracken, knowing where the wild berries are not too far from the house. I’ve been taking breaks also. Though we may not stand in the middle of the room all wrapped up in yarn, we’re prioritizing family time. We have some fourth of July fun planned too.
Fireworks? Ocean trips? Anything fun planned? Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Such a little cutie. I’m so glad you are managing to find a little family time amongst all the busyness. We have just had a family bbq followed by a game of badminton (me sitting on a chair) it was hilarious and precious! Have a lovely weekend all of you. x
