I already showed you pictures of our booth, now here are the rest of the pictures I said I’d share with you from the Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival. We saw goats, sheep, alpacas, and bunnies galore while we were there. Bracken stood for pictures (and then took pictures himself) next to a handsome Shetland ram out for a walk, who was described as a “gentle soul.” He certainly was, letting Bracken snuggle up right next to him. (Bracken also wanted his picture taken next to the zinnias because he was excited to see familiar flowers from our own garden.) We got to watch shearing and spinning. We got to pet the animals and feel all sorts of different kinds of fiber. I walked past a bag of such beautiful yarn, I couldn’t help but ask if I could snap a picture and then inquire which booth it came from.
Though he seemed to enjoy it all, I think Bracken’s very favorite place was the bunny barn. He just loved visiting all the bunnies. He loved watching them get brushed (and a few of them were even blow dried), and kept showing me his favorite ones. We decided to play Bunny Bingo and then got quite a delightful surprise when Bracken had the honor of being asked to be one of the judges. His job? To wait and see which square the bunny would leave it’s droppings in, which would decide the winner!
We had a great time and we’re already signed up to have a booth there again next year!
P.S. Here are the links to his birthday sweater (small on him now) and hat from last year.
P.P.S. I saw so many gorgeous shawls around the festival, that I decided I want to knit one. I wasn’t sure if I would ever wear a shawl, but after seeing so many in action, I realized a shawl would be the perfect cozy thing to wrap around my shoulders before I head out the door. What are your favorite shawl patterns?

Aloha,
Love your pictures. One of these days I’m going to make it to that fibre festival.
Noticed the Olympic Spinning Wheel (I have one too). Hope Amy/Rebekah had fun too.
Who created the bird nesting material containers? They’re stunning.
Glad you didn’t sell all of your shawl pins at the festival. I ordered one and can’t wait to wear it!
Mahalo.

Hello Tagati! Here is the link to the people who make the bird nesting material containers: http://www.mkwares.net/
I don’t know if they have them listing online, but you could always write to them and ask about them. We have one in our garden that we got at a fiber festival over the summer, and we really love it.
Thanks so much for purchasing a shawl pin from us! I’ll be mailing it out to you very soon! 🙂
Love,
Taryn

Drool. I am not allowed to go anywhere near fiber festivals – the yarnlust is overwhelming. Favorite shawl pattern: Age of Brass and Steam, on Ravelry. Easy, easily modified, just enough detail to keep it interesting, minimal counting, and free!

what a beautiful festival! i don’t think there is anything like it here in ct,but now you’ve got me wanting to google that! i used to raise goats as a teenager and i really miss them.we used to do the local youth fair with them, and it was always such fun to be an exhibitor there.i was drooling over all the yarn pics–i need to find some homespun/homedyed yarns for mittens and socks! i love to knit shawls and two of my favorite patterns are “boneyard” by stephen west and “lacey baktus”(i don’t remember the designer).both are on ravelry and they are free patterns, too.i wish you happy shawl knitting! 🙂

What an amazing festival, so much to see, I would love to go to something like this but I don’t think we have anything local! x

Hello Taryn! It’s been such a very long time since I visited…I have been out of blogland for a good long while, and have finally ventured back to my own little space and some of my favourites, too. Like here! The fair looks wonderful…I dream of doing one of these soon. I do so love my little mini flock of fibre sheep. As for shawls, I have made a few…currently I am working on a Danish tie-wrap shawl that you cross over your body and tie behind at the base of your back, leaving your hands free. I love the simple design, but shawls can be a slog. I hope to finish for winter when I can throw it on to go do farm chores. Wishing you lots of love…your little boy is getting so big!

this looks like so much fun! I wish they had something like that here. What great photos. I love Brackens hat and sweater! I understand his love of the bunny barn. We have 3 angora rabbits of our own. They are such fun and so so soft.

Hi Taryn! WOW! The festival looks like so much fun! I love the bunnies, the sheep, and the alpaca!
Zinnias are a favorite around here, too. I can see why Bracken wanted to stand by them!
Aren’t you so happy that you went? I hope you sold lots of your lovely wooden buttons and fasteners.
Thank you for sharing all that beauty with us!
