Today’s giveaway is brought to you by WoolyMossRoots Sponsor – Homestead Drying Racks.
I had the pleasure of meeting Kristy and some of her family at the Mother Earth News Fair last summer. We had a great time chatting and hit it off right away. We share a passion for homesteading and I love what her family is offering the world through their wonderful business. Kristy asked if I would like to try out one of their drying racks and if I liked it, share about it with you here. I haven’t done that before and to be honest, when I’ve been contacted online to review products in the past, I’ve declined because I haven’t wanted the pressure to share about something unless I truly believe in it and feel inspired to. I was able to see the beautiful drying racks that Kristy and her family make in person at the fair and could tell how sturdy and well made they were, and am so glad I made an exception!
Our Pioneer Drying Rack in our backyard over the summer, by the grape arbor and chicken coop (in case you’re wondering what that is.)
I’m a good person to review drying racks because I use them nearly every single day and also year round. Many years ago Jeff and I decided to get rid of our dryer and while I know it’s not for everyone, overall we’ve been happy with our decision. In the summer, I hang our laundry on the line outside and in the winter, by the woodstove. Most of the time I need more drying space than I can fit on our line outside, so I bring wooden drying racks to use outside as well. With the season change, I’m back to drying laundry by the woodstove and use one to sometimes three (if I’m drying blankets or something that takes up more room) drying racks at a time.
When I received my Pioneer Drying Rack from Homestead Drying Racks, Jeff and I assembled it together. We were both impressed with the quality, which was apparent as we put it together. The wood was so smooth compared to my other wooden drying racks (which were not cheap) that have rougher wood which has become splintery over time. Homestead Drying Racks use quality hardwood, which makes a difference. I like how sturdy the Pioneer Drying Rack is, whereas my other drying racks could be tipped over without much effort. I also like how much space it has for hanging laundry and the way the laundry is spaced makes for much more air flow (and faster drying time) than my other racks with rungs directly above one another. Did I mention it’s beautiful?
When I use it outdoors in the summertime, I bring it indoors at night and don’t leave it out in the weather. I know with good care that it can last forever and be an heirloom to pass down for generations. How many things can you say that about these days? I love that these drying racks are handcrafted by the Gundersons on their Oregon farm and that their whole family is involved in their business. They offer the highest quality drying rack on the market right now. With their drying racks, you get a quality product and get to support a wonderful family at the same time. Even if you are not using a drying rack full time like we do around here, they are great for drying your delicates and woolens. They offer free shipping in the continental United States on all of their drying racks! They are also offering a discount to WoolyMossRoots readers and one of you lucky readers could win their Pioneer Drying Rack today!
You can stay in touch with Homestead Drying Racks on Facebook.
Welcome Kristy! Will you tell us about your business and how it all began?
Kristy: Thank you so much Taryn! We are the proud owners of The Homestead Store. We are a homesteading family of 7 who make handcrafted drying racks and carry homesteading supplies.
We were given the opportunity to become the new owners almost a year ago, and have been so incredibly blessed! We truly love this business, the products, and the folks we get to interact with on a daily basis. My husband and all 5 of our kids make our drying racks right here on our farm in Oregon. Every day is filled with life lessons as we all share a part in this business. Teaching a solid work ethic with integrity and honesty are very important to us and we get to do it doing something we love! Did I mention we are blessed? Thank you Taryn for having us on your blog – we are so excited for this giveaway!

I’ve been saving for one of these drying racks, one of my two racks that we use to dry clothes around the wood cook stove is on it’s last legs. I’d love the chance to win one and keep saving to purchase another, so when our other rack is past it’s days we can replace it too! Thank you for this opportunity 🙂

What a wonderful, wonderful giveaway! We are currently using every chair, doorknob, railing to dry our clothes (off grid family – no washer, dryer). Quite a messy, disorganized set-up – would love one of these! 🙂 Thank you so much for the chance and have a beautiful holiday week!

I would love to have a drying rack for my home! Lovely giveaway, thanks for the chance!
Anke says
The only time I use our dryer is for towels and sheets. Everything else gets hung up to dry – summer and winter. I’d do a little jig if I was the lucky winner of this awesome drying rack!
Robin Follette says
Our dryer is 26 years old. We use it so little it might last forever. I dry my laundry the same way as you, Taryn. On nice days it goes outside, otherwise it’s by the woodstove. I’ve been looking for a new drying rack but they’re either plastic, plastic coated or flimsy. It’s nice to find racks that are solid and will out last us.
Christelle says
I’m in desperate need of a new drying rack! I hate using the dryer in the winter- would love one of these!

Anita Shelton says
I have been needing something to dry clothes outside for a long time. Our ground is not good for putting posts in because it is hard and rocky so can’t put up a line. Would love to have one of these for all the grandkids who live with me. 6 of them. thank you.
Chris says
Our dryer broke last month, and we’re “broke” too, so no replacement anytime soon. I have one good (old) drying rack, and two cheap ones that I’m limping along with…lots of wood glue and twine and frustration! This would be a great holiday present for our family…it’s that kind of year, simple and practical! Thank you for the opportunity for a give-away!
chrisoula says
I would love one of these.
