Oh my goodness, I love these little baby booties! I fell in love with the pattern: Keelan – Chunky Strap Baby Shoes by Julie Taylor. I thought they would make great baby gifts and I have plans to knit quite a few of them. This was my first time knitting this pattern. (I’ve already cast on a second pair.) I knit these for my sister’s best friend, who is expecting a baby girl. The yarn was a gift and the pure baby merino (silky soft) was so enjoyable to knit with. I loved the purple colorway, perfect for spring. I’m calling them baby love booties, inspired by Bracken’s addition in the card. (He also decorated one of the gifts with a lavender bundle and taped on the teeniest tiniest shell he could find from our trip to Florida.)
I did make a blooper on these baby shoes, though, and you may have noticed right when you saw them. I accidentally knit an extra row on one of them, which made the strap face in the wrong direction. Both straps are supposed to face out. Whoops. By the time I had realized my mistake, I had already cast off and finished knitting the strap. I needed to get them sent out in time for the baby shower, so there wasn’t time for any correcting (or re-knitting), just enough time to get the buttons sewn on and mail them out. But I still think they are simply adorable and they’ll keep little toes warm all the same.
Jeff made the buttons in black walnut wood. I was digging through buttons to find a good match and as soon as I held those ones up to the shoes, they seemed to sing. (That’s my button-choosing method, holding them up to my project to see which ones sing.) My Ravelry notes, by the way, are here. I’m excited to have this new go-to baby knit!

I didn’t even notice the mistake until you pointed it out! π I think those look like perfect little baby girl booties. They look like they would stay on the foot very nicely. I think my best friend would love a pair of these for her daughter. Thanks for sharing the pattern link!
