{This was something I had written in the sidebar many years ago when I first started this blog, a poem of sorts. I’ve since had it on my About page, but it didn’t really belong there. It’s a handful of things that I’ve loved about each season here on our homestead and going back to look at it now, after all this time, there is so much more I could add. This spring our lilacs are done blooming, it seems I blinked and they were already finished for the season and I marveled at how quickly it happened. How many times did I even get to smell them? Only a few times as I walked past, thinking they’d be there longer to enjoy. It was a reminder for me to savor each season and the goodness it brings, to soak it all up fully while it’s here. With that, here’s to savoring the seasons!}

On our mountain homestead,
our life flows with the seasons.
.
Spring
brings nettles, fuzzy little chicks,
trilliums, daffodils, crocuses,
singing frogs, and planting seeds!
.
.
Summer
brings garden bounty, berry picking,
clothes on the line, flowers in bloom,
open windows and bonfires at night!
.
.
Fall
brings food preserving, celebrating harvest,
gathering firewood, apple pressing parties,
and baskets of huckleberries and chantrelles!
.
.
Winter
brings fires in the woodstove, savory soups,
books full of adventure, a slower pace,
quiet contemplation and warm cups of tea!

How lovely! And I adore the photos you chose to go with it all. And that chalk board drawing! That is gorgeous.
This time of year I love how impossibly fresh and green the landscape has become. The gorgeous faces of new roses….the songs of the birds, the world waking up!~
