I went to a friend’s baby shower last weekend and finished this little vest just in time. After she shared the news that she was going to have a boy, I picked out this yarn from Mosaic Moon at the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival. I loved all the blue tones in that yarn and envisioned a little vest for her baby boy. I chose the Milo vest pattern because I knew my friend would want something simple and practical. I also skipped the cable pattern on the front. (Ravelry notes here.) It was my third time knitting a Milo vest and it’s an enjoyable pattern to knit and also makes for such a cozy vest that warms the core (and can continue to be worn even as those arms grow.)
The finished vest turned out larger than I had intended to make it (which shouldn’t have come as any surprise because I was knitting with aran weight yarn), but I wanted the vest to be something her winter baby could wear right away. Since I had been in felting mode with my previous project, I almost felted it to make it a bit smaller, but Jeff and Bracken talked me out of it. I’m glad they convinced me to keep it as is because her baby boy will grow into it soon enough. (Better too big than too small!) And since they live at the windy coast, a snuggly vest will come in handy all throughout the year. So whenever that baby grows into it, a warm vest will be ready and waiting.
