Hello! We’re back home (as of late last night.) I have pictures and stories to share from our trip, but first I must tell you about the sale we’re currently having in our shop. I meant to come here sooner to let you know, but didn’t get the opportunity before now. The sale is only good through November, so I wanted to get this post up before the month is over! We were going to have 15% off be the largest discount we offered this holiday season, but decided to offer 20% off for a short while. It’s truly the biggest discount we offer in the shop for the whole year. If you’d like to take advantage of this deal, enter the coupon code GIVINGTHANKS20 at checkout, and receive 20% off all orders over $20 through November. And while we’re on shop talk, I thought I’d share some of the earrings I’ve been posting. Usually when I share shop updates here I just include a handful of pictures, but this time I wanted to write about each pair of earrings.
I’m starting with this pair of tree earrings in mountain mahogany wood because I love them so much! Jeff and I adore mountain mahogany wood. And these earrings have a whole little scene on them.
More earrings in mountain mahogany. Aren’t those colors gorgeous? Sometimes the hues in this wood remind us of a sunset over the desert. I love the shape of these too.
And… more mountain mahogany! This wood is on the heavier side, so these earrings are best for those who don’t mind a little weight to their earrings. (If you’re wanting lightweight earrings then cedar and juniper wood are a good way to go!)
Jeff made this pair in spruce burl. I love the swirls and designs in the grain, and the long shape of these.
This pair is in a new favorite wood of ours- diamond willow. The diamond willow has such gorgeous, rich hues and the fun thing about this pair is the natural shape. Jeff always gets requests for larger earrings and these are a great choice for those wanting some earrings on the larger side that really stand out.
Speaking of standing out, these earrings with turquoise really pop. Jeff’s turquoise inlays with the trees are so beautiful, but I think these ones in yew wood are especially so because of they way he purposely put the tree design over the darker center of the wood, creating a lighter border around. They are just stunning!
Jeff made these celtic knot earrings in Oregon myrtlewood. The celtic knot in the center is the love knot- the symbol for eternal love, with four interwoven hearts, one facing in each direction.
And sometimes no design is needed because the wood simply shines on it’s own. This pair is made in Oregon cascara wood, which is naturally this bright, cheery yellow color.
(All of the earrings in our shop come on sterling silver plated ear wires. This pair was shining out to be photographed, and when I was taking pictures I noticed the ear wires were starting to tarnish. My grandma just taught me that a little baking soda and water takes that right off and is the perfect way to polish your silver!)
These simple beauties are in maple burl. Because of all the sanding and polishing Jeff does, the wood looks luminescent when you tilt it in the light.
Jeff’s original tree design (this version with the leaves is my favorite) in hickory wood. So woodsy and earthy.
This pair is so nice and lightweight in red cedar (and the red cedar smells good too!) I love the simplicity of these and the shape.
This sweet little pair in yellow cedar actually already sold since I had started getting this post together weeks ago. I love the turquoise stones surrounded by the celtic knots and thought I would share them here anyway because you can always look through our sold orders in the shop, Jeff often makes custom orders similar to items customers have found in our sold orders.
Sweet and simple trees in red cedar. The cedar makes for such wonderfully lightweight earrings. For an aromatherapy treat, you can put a drop of your favorite essential oil on the back of each earring to enjoy the scent while you wear them. (Cedar is an absorbent wood and perfect for this!)
Okay, these ones sold too… but I love the colors in these sassafras earrings. Aren’t the rings of growth so beautiful and the radiant centers?
How about a little chicken love for all the chicken fans out there? These are in cherry wood. I have a pair just like this and they are good conversation starters!
This is a design I drew and I was so delighted when Jeff brought my vision to life with these earrings. This version has a dark border around the edges.
And this version is sanded around the edges. Both pairs are in red cedar and, as I mentioned about our red cedar earrings before, they make great aromatherapy earrings.
This is what happens when Jeff starts playing with the woodburner, like doodling on paper. He has so much fun, and I love what he comes up with. This pair is in Oregon juniper wood.
This sweet little pair of honeybee earrings are really lightweight in yellow cedar. Jeff woodburned around the edges. I love them (and I need a pair!)
…
Well, there are so many more earrings to share, but I’m afraid this post is getting rather long, so I’ll wrap things up so we can get to the giveaway. Don’t let all these pictures fool you, it’s not sunny here right now, there’s been nothing but rain in the forecast. I took these pictures awhile back when we had a sunny stretch and have been working to get caught up posting all of them. I must say, the floating driftwood temples hanging in our yard really came in handy for photographing the earrings! They made such a great background, and such a perfect place to hang the earrings cards from.
As I said before, all the earrings in our shop come on sterling silver plated ear wires. If you would like something different, let us know what ear wires you would prefer, we’re happy to offer other ear wires by request. (And we just ordered some sterling silver-filled ear wires that cost a little more, as another option for those with sensitivities to metals.) The wooden earrings that Jeff makes are so unique and they make great gifts! (If you’re wanting to buy a pair for the holiday season be sure to use that coupon code I mentioned at the top of the post. GIVINGTHANKS20 for 20% off.)
And now, let’s get to the giveaway shall we?
Not only did I want to let you know about our sale before November is over, I wanted to give away a pair of our popular leaf earrings while fall is still here and before winter arrives. (Though leaf earrings are fun to wear all year round of course!) Jeff makes these in red cedar wood. They are so lightweight, and are available in two sizes- the smaller size shown in the first two pictures, and the larger size shown in the third picture. (Thanks to our friend Renee for modeling them for us!) Made for the nature lover to enjoy, they are also perfect for aromatherapy earrings.
To enter today’s giveaway for a pair of leaf earrings (in your preferred size), simply leave a comment in this post. International entries welcome. The winner will be chosen by Random Number Generator. I’ll keep the giveaway open through Tuesday, December 5th, and the winner will receive an e-mail with the happy news!
