We love Sparkle Stories in our home! I remember how grateful I felt when I first discovered their stories. Since that time they’ve become such a bright part of our days and we’ve enjoyed them for many years now. Bracken loves to draw while he listens to the stories and sometimes draws the characters he’s hearing about. We listen to the stories here and there throughout the week, but if we miss a few weeks of listening we feel like we are missing a dear friend. We enjoy them as a regular part of our life and we’ve also appreciated having Sparkle Stories to listen to when some quiet downtime was needed. I have a fond memory of sitting next to Bracken, with my knitting in hand, while we listened to Sparkle Stories together when he was under the weather and needed some rest.

The stories have such a calming, peaceful affect on all of us, and they share such good messages and reminders that are so good for children (and adults!) to hear. I’ve noticed that both Bracken and I’s breathing deepens as that starting music begins, the stories relax us. I feel like listening to the stories helps Bracken process and understand his emotions, communicate them more, and the stories serve as a good role model for positive ways to handle emotions when you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by them. And I feel listening to the stories helps me to be a more patient parent! (Bracken and I listen to them most often, but Jeff loves the stories too!)

For me, Sparkle Stories is a trusted source for heartfelt stories, woven with magic, whose loving messages are a blessing to all who listen to them- children and adults alike. I asked Bracken (newly 7) what he would tell someone about Sparkle Stories if they hadn’t heard them before. He replied: “They are really good. And they’re about fairies and stuff. And every single story is a really good one.” Some of our favorites series are So Many Fairies, The Willowbee Tree, Junkyard Tales, and Martin and Sylvia, and even with listening as long as we have- there’s still many, many more series and stories to explore and look forward to. How did Sparkle Stories come to be?

Sparkle Stories: In 2010, Lisabeth Sewell McCann had an idea. She and her husband, David, had two young boys at home. Lisabeth was desperate to find something to entertain them, so she looked and looked online for audio stories but couldn’t find anything they hadn’t already listened to and that was appropriate for their little guys.

And then she thought of her husband. David has a gift, an incredible ability to spin gentle and fun stories for children right off the top of his head. A picture of a business came to her mind, where they could record these audio stories and offer them to families like theirs.

Sparkle Stories is now an independent media company that serves customers with over a thousand original audio stories for children, available on our app and via our website.

What’s new at Sparkle Stories these days?

Sparkle Stories: The Sparkle team continues to grow! We are in the final stages of testing our new Android app, soon to be released. We are wrapping up our FIFTY series, which includes a unique historical fiction story for every state of the United States.

David has just begun work on the final book, Book 4, of our How to Be Super series, set to be released in early 2018. We continue to create new Day of Rest and Helping and Healing stories, such as our brand new one for Veterans’ Day, “All Hands.”
